C-Level Social Media: Top CEO’s Only
by JohnSheridan
For the past 11 years, Atlantic Business Magazine has held its “Atlantic Canada’s Top 50 CEOs” awards gala. It is the culmination of a rigorous process to highlight and celebrate the amazing and sometimes overlooked leadership success stories from Atlantic Canada. It is this region’s most prestigious business event, and last night we were happy to be there to support our fellow business people from the region.
But more than this, the term “Top 50 CEO” will also hit home with our many subscribers who are now reading this from several other parts of the world. We’re pretty sure there are some stellar examples you could think of in your own neck of the woods.
So in this age of globally-networked people and information, and in the spirit of social media, we created a web 2.0 article just for “Top 50 CEOs”.
Wherever you are.
Social media is, and will continue to increase in importance. It is being heralded by some to be as technologically significant to business as was the telephone, the spreadsheet or email. The awareness of the power of social media is growing in this region, but the majority of organizations remain skeptical due to misconceptions of social media and how it is actually transforming business globally.
Unfortunately, this skepticism is being compounded by the fast-growing pools of opportunistic individuals and companies re-badging themselves as social media experts and gurus. There are, of course, pockets of respectable and genuine expertise, but the sheer volume of marketing white noise is making buyers tune out.
This, in turn, will eventually inhibit the growth and competitiveness of companies in the region, as well as have negative effects on non-profits and governments (think fund raising and competition for tourist dollars, respectively).
So what is a Top 50 CEO to do? We’ve put together a short article, with key information, with our busy executive audience in mind.
Just the facts. Click here to read the article, and then click here to find out what to do next.
