Our Work

We are architects of social environments, designing effective custom online methods for social business operation.  While most of social media is currently dominated by marketing and sales, we are among the few services firms who realize that there is far more potential to social media.

As such, we’ve actually been doing only a few, very small marketing-related assignments.  We’ve targeted work where long-term sustainable online interaction is the core strategy to meet a business objective, and we’re proud we’ve been able to work with some advanced thinking organizations using social media today.

Here’s a few of the things we’ve been up to:

20 Vic Management
We were initially hired to provide social media education to the National Marketing Directors group.  Following a successful session, we were engaged to create a social media strategy for one of their regional properties, a large shopping centre in British Columbia.

20 VIC’s clients are the retailers themselves who pay rent, not the shoppers. As such, not just individuals but other enterprises as well are important stakeholders in the overall social media strategy.  We are currently engaged to implement the social media strategy for this property.

Atlantic Business Magazine
Founded in 1989, Atlantic Business Magazine is an independently owned, bi-monthly glossy publication that covers all areas of business within the four Atlantic provinces of Canada.  It is the largest publication of its kind in the region.

We have been engaged to architect a new digital content and multi-media intensive direction for this traditional print publication.  This print publication envisions a rich and long term online relationship with their readership, to supplement the physical print product they deliver today. A key audience for Atlantic Business Magazine are advertisers. As such, not just individuals but also enterprises are important stakeholders in the overall social media strategy.

Our services include the Information Architecture of the online presence, online content strategy, social interaction architecture, as well as Project Management duties to guide the web development resources.

Concertia Technologies
We have been engaged as part of a larger team to assist in the development of an online information portal for Orthopedic patients.  The client, Nova Scotia Department of Health, envision a highly interactive online community where patients, family members, care providers, and educators can come together to improve the patient experience.  Our role, in these early stages, is the foundational Information Architecture to be used for the presentation of information and eventual implementation of social interactions.

AccessTec
AccessTec, who provide and implement proprietary Electronic Healthcare Records (EHRs) in primarily third-world countries, have recently been recognized in a report commissioned by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as having the most effective EHR solution available in the world today.  Accesstec sells its system (ACSiS) to national health jurisdictions. As such, not just individuals but also enterprises are important stakeholders in the overall social media strategy.

We were engaged to develop a transformative social business architecture for this small New Brunswick company.  We created a social business strategy allowing this organization to rapidly scale their product and services around the globe, and have been selected as implementation partners in 2010.

Atkinson Group Inc.
(for the College of Nurses of Ontario and HRSDC Canada)
We have been engaged as part of a team to define and design a Pan-Canadian registry for Internationally Educated Nurses.  The Pan Canadian registry will have several stakeholder organizations as members of the online community including all provincial, and some national regulatory bodies.

Our responsibilities include the creation of the Information Architecture, on-line system design, and both the operational and online social business models.  The attraction, identification, qualification and registration of internationally-trained professionals is a national priority, and will be implemented for nurses in 2011, during the next phase of this project.

Business New Brunswick
We were initially engaged to provide social media education, to a few different functions within the government.  Soon afterwards, we were engaged to provide a social media strategy to attract and retain commercial investment in New Brunswick through business development and related activities.   Business New Brunswick has several stakeholder organizations as members of the online community including site selection consultancies, communities, and enterprises looking to re/locate.

This engagement involved the application of our proprietary methodology, OASIS, to develop specific business objectives, conduct primary and secondary research into the stakeholder community, and develop an implementation strategy and high level project plan/approach.

Importantly, it provided Social Media 404 the opportunity to hear “first hand” what site selection consultants are looking for from Business New Brunswick, and how that can be delivered on-line via a social media strategy.  The insights provided by speaking with senior site selection consultants about their candid views, perceptions and preferences as they pertain to a site search were a key part of this engagement.

Canadian Nurses Association
Our history with CNA goes back to 2003, performing many services to this client pertaining to the implementation of a multi-million dollar online community of nurses, NurseONE.  This client independently hired Mr. Sheridan and Mr. Mason from their respective companies, which began the working relationship they now have in Social Media 404.

NurseONE has several stakeholder organizations as members of the online community including all provincial regulatory bodies. The services provided to CNA included helping to select technology vendors, providing strategic technology advice, Information Architecture, community design, marketing and strategic business sustainment planning.

We were also subsequently engaged to determine the feasibility of an internal social network to be implemented for the organizations Board of Directors.  Once the study was complete, we architected and managed the implementation of an internal collaboration area where participants from across the country have easy access to information, collaborative tools, and each other.

Blue Print Public Relations
We were contracted by this Ottawa communications company to create a social marketing attraction strategy targeting university graduates for their client, a national professional association.  This work allowed the organization to combine and coordinate online and real world marketing activities, which complimented the national distribution of their media content.

Pilot Communications
We were contracted to provide social media marketing advice and create strategic recommendations for the social marketing campaign for a client of this St. John’s marketing company.  The brief assignment used extensive research of online capabilities and behaviours to target messaging on key social properties.

The Idea Factory
We were contracted to provide strategic social media marketing advice, and create strategies for the client of this St. John’s marketing company.  The goal of this brief assignment was to provide enough strategic direction for the marketing company to self-conduct the social campaign.

We’re also available for speaking engagements, and have done everything from small, closed lunch and learn’s to addressing large groups of over 100.
